Maintenance Technician

Job Location: Walkerville MI and surrounding areas (including Ludington/Pentwater area, Fremont, Hesperia)

Primary role: Work with Maintenance Crew to repair and maintain pig barns

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, install, maintain and repair: ventilation, feeding systems, and housing equipment in hog barns
  • Mechanical repair and fabrication: repair mechanical systems (augers, gear drive boxes, winch systems and lifting equipment), should be familiar with fastener sizes and types, stick and MIG welding both carbon and stainless steel
  • Electrical: diagnosis and repairs; 120v, 240v, 480v single and 3-Phase systems; automation controls (relays, contactors, transformers and low voltage controls), motors, lighting, conduits and enclosure
  • Plumbing: PVC repairs and installations, high pressure wash hoses and pumps, water heaters, plumbing fixtures and drains
  • Construction: maintain and repair pole barn type building structures, ramps, walkways, cement and masonry
  • Appliance repair: heaters and furnace, clothes washers and dryers
  • Physical labor job, requires lifting and handling heavy objects, working in heat/cold, dust, indoors and outdoors
  • Should be a self-starter with excellent time management and ability to stay on task, see a project from start to completion
  • Carpentry, welding, and electrical experience is a plus
  • Previous farm experience is a plus, but is not required
  • Must follow biosecurity procedures, including showering in and out of pig barns

Full-time, Monday-Friday, occasional weekend/evening hours in emergency situations (on-call, rotating schedule)
Entry-level, willing to train. Those with experience can also apply.
Pay is based on skill and experience
