The new Clemens Food Group plant employs more than 800 people. Once it's up and running, it'll process roughly 10,000 hogs a day. 
"This is the biggest thing we've had in 30 years," said Mary Kelpinski, CEO of the Michigan Pork Producer Association.

Fred Walcott is the new chairman of the Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development.

"We believe Fred is a fine choice to be Agriculture Commission chair," said Matt Smego, manager of Michigan Farm Bureau's Government Relations department. "Not only is he a top-notch farmer, but he's an innovator in his profession and will serve with integrity and dedication."
